SCHEME FOR FINANCING FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT

  • PURPOSE:
    • a. DEVELOPMENT OF INLAND & BRACKISH WATER FISHERIES FOR:
      • Construction /renovation of ponds /tanks
      • Construction of sluices.
      • Purchase of fish, Prawn, fry & fingerlings/fish seed/ prawn seed etc.
      • Purchase of inputs like oil cake fertilizer, organic fertilizer & other feed material up to first harvest.
      • Purchase of nets, boxes, baskets, ropes, shovels, hooks/ other accessories
      • In case of reservoir or lake fisheries, purchase of country made boats may be considered.
    • b. MARINE FISHERIES:
      • For purchase of mechanized /non-mechanized boats/deep sea fishing vessels /trawlers
      • Purchase of nets, deck equipment, marine engine & Working capital.
  • ELIGIBILITY:
    • a. DEVELOPMENT OF INLAND & BRACKISH WATER FISHERIES FOR:
      • Individual farmers/ groups and cooperative society/ company or association of persons having adequate knowhow, experience/ training in the activity and infrastructural facilities.
      • Owner(s) of the pond or land or have lease hold rights till completion of the project.
      • Having fishing rights in the case of lake/ reservoir.
      • Report on quality of water should be submitted by borrower along with the application for agriculture credit
    • b. FOR MARINE FISHERIES:
      • Individuals/ partnership firms/ Limited companies who are technically qualified & are having adequate experience to undertake such ventures.
      • In case of Deep sea fishing vessels, necessary permission from Govt. authorities is required for operating in the maritime zone.
  • EXTENT OF LOAN: Need based. If necessary, in Inland fisheries projects may be got verified from Fish farmer Development Agency (FFDA), State Fishery Department/NABARD consultancy services limited.
  • REPAYMENT:
    • a. Pond fish culture:- 5-8 years (Including gestation period of 12 months with yearly mode of repayment)
    • b. Brackish water fish/prawn culture: 5-10 years including gestation period of 12 months with half-yearly mode of repayment.
    • c. If sponsored by FFDA: 9 years (with 2 years repayment holiday) in pond culture.
    • d. Non-Mechanized Boats/vessels: 6-7 years with 4 months’ grace period each year.
    • e. Mechanized Boats: 8-12 years, with 4 months’ grace period each year.
