EligibilityThe account can be opened by an individual (singly or jointly), minors aged 10 years and above, or minors under natural/legal guardianship. Illiterate and visually impaired persons are also eligible to open the account with the usual safeguards.

KYC ComplianceThe account is opened in accordance with the KYC/AML guidelines issued and amended by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Punjab National Bank from time to time.

Internet & Mobile BankingAvailable free of cost.
Passbook / Account StatementCustomers receive a Passbook or Monthly Statement of Account (printed or by email). A continuation passbook issued after exhaustion of pages is also provided without any charge.
ATM / Debit CardFree ATM Card or ATM-cum-Debit Card. No charges are levied for issuance, annual maintenance, or renewal.
Free WithdrawalsMinimum six free withdrawals per month, including ATM withdrawals from PNB ATMs and other bank ATMs. Digital payment transactions such as POS, NEFT, RTGS, UPI, IMPS, etc., are not counted as withdrawals. Charges on digital payment transactions are applicable as per RBI, NPCI and Government of India guidelines.
Deposit FacilityNo limit on the number or value of deposits that can be made in a month.
Cash Deposit FacilityCash can be deposited at PNB Branches, ATMs, Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) and Banking Network ATMs (BNAs).
Receipt of FundsCustomers can receive money through electronic channels or through deposit/collection of cheques.
Availability of Free Banking FacilitiesFor both new and existing BSBD accounts, the branch will provide free facilities such as cheque book, internet/mobile banking, passbook/statement and ATM/Debit Card upon receiving a request from the customer.
Conversion of Existing Savings AccountCustomers can convert their existing Savings Bank Account into a BSBD Account by submitting a written request. The bank will complete the conversion within seven days of receiving the request.
Restriction on Multiple BSBD AccountsA customer cannot hold more than one BSBD Account in the same bank or any other bank. Before opening or converting to a BSBD Account, the customer must submit a declaration confirming that they do not have a BSBD Account with any bank.
Conversion of No-Frill AccountExisting No-Frill Accounts can be converted into PNB Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts (Zero Balance Accounts) after completion of KYC formalities.
Business Correspondent (BC) FacilityExisting BSBD account holders can use Business Correspondent (BC) Outlet services by submitting their biometric details at the branch. For new BSBD accounts, biometric details of all customers are captured during account opening.
