Consumer Protection Act, 2019: District, State and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF) is a quasi-judicial body established under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The DCDRF is responsible for resolving consumer disputes where the value of the goods or services involved does not exceed ₹1 crore.

  • Transfer cases from the DCDRFs

National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC)

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) is a quasi-judicial body established under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The NCDRC is the apex consumer forum in India and is responsible for resolving consumer disputes where the value of the goods or services involved exceeds ₹10 crores.

The NCDRC is headed by a President who is a retired Supreme Court Judge or an officer of equivalent rank. The NCDRC has eight members, four of whom are lawyers and the other four are persons with knowledge of consumer affairs.

The NCDRC has the same powers as the SCDRC, but it can also:

  • Review orders passed by the SCDRCs
